Big idea

You need to grasp and hold on to the faith.
Main Scripture: 2 Timothy 1:13-14, Ephesians 4
The Weekly Challenge: Examine yourself in the light of Scripture.
"Hold fast the pattern of sound words which you have heard from me, in faith and love which are in Christ Jesus. That good thing which was committed to you, keep by the Holy Spirit who dwells in us."
- 2 Timothy 1:13-14
Four Reasons to Grasp and Hold On to the Faith from Ephesians 4:
  1. Knowing what you should believe is part of growing up in Christ. - v. 11-14

  2. Growing up in the faith keeps us anchored in it. - v. 14-15

  3. You can't help others grow in what you don't know. - v. 15-16

  4. What you believe shapes what you do. - v.17-24

What the Apostles' Creed Does for Us:
  • It summarizes the essentials of the faith.

  • It enables us to easily learn and teach the essentials.

  • It helps us protect and defend Authentic Christianity from counterfeits.
Questions to Ask Yourself
  • Am I willing to grasp more of the faith?
  • Is what I'm holding on to from the Bible or somewhere else?
  • How is what I say I believe actually shaping what I do?

I believe...

that I need to grasp and hold on to the faith.

Therefore, I...

will examine myself and my beliefs throughout this series.

The Five Tests of False Doctrine

The Five Tests of False Doctrine

Why Young Christians Need Old Books

Why Young Christians Need Old Books

Growing young Christians need mature old Christians to help guide, curb, and correct. And in God’s mighty providence, he has given us hundreds of mothers and fathers in the faith who help us through their writings.
